Fall Colours Social Paddle

Connect and socialize with fellow paddlers while taking in the spectacular fall colours along the Musquodoboit River. Enjoy a relaxed paddle through the valley as the forests along the river put on their stunning autumn show.
Want to double the adventure? After the paddle, hike the nearby Gibraltar Rock Loop trail to the top of the 350-million-year-old granite uplands for spectacular views of the colourful river valley below.

Waivers Required for All Participants
All guests are also required to complete a Release of Liability Waiver prior to paddling. Guests under the age of 19 must have a parent or legal guardian complete the Liability Waiver on their behalf.
Adult (19+) Waiver: For participants 19-years of age and older.
Parent/Legal Guardian Waiver: For participants under 19 years of age and their parent or legal guardian. This form covers both the parent/guardian and their minor child(ren) if the parent/guardian is also paddling.
🛶 Boat Rentals
You can request kayak and canoe rentals during registration. We'll confirm within 24-hours. Reserve early as boats are limited and typically sell out quickly.
🚐 Shuttle Service
Musgo Rider and MV Outfitters will provide a shuttle between Crawfords Bridge and the Church. Seats are limited and must be reserved when completing the registration form.
Shuttles are reserved for drivers only. If using the shuttle, drop off your gear and guests at the Church, then drive your vehicle to Crawfords Bridge to meet the shuttle back.
Cost: $10/per person. Cash only. Please bring exact change.

Crawfords Bridge, Parking, and Boat Pick Up
🅿️ Parking: Please park safely and respectfully along the shoulder of the road on the Musquodoboit Harbour side of the bridge. Please do not park on or block the narrow driveway leading to the river under the bridge. At the end of the paddle, vehicles need to be able to drive down to the river to pick up boats and gear.
⚠️ Rough driveway: The driveway to the river is very rough with large potholes. Please drive slowly and use caution.
💪 Strong Arms for Hire: We are working to recruit some youth community groups to act as heavy lifters to help carry boats to and from the river. Bring some tips for their services. This will be particularly helpful at the end of the paddle so that you don't have to bring your vehicle down the rough and narrow driveway to pick up your boats.
The Launch Location
The launch for the paddle is located down a foot path about 100m from the Church. There is not a large area to gather near the river. We recommend gathering and socializing in the Church parking lot and then when you are ready to launch, carrying boats to the river.
Double Your Adventure with the Gibraltar Rock Loop Hike
See the Musquodoboit Valley from two unforgettable perspectives! Paddle through the fall colours, then hike to the top of the 350-million-year-old granite uplands for spectacular views of the river valley below.
The parking lot and trailhead for the Gibraltar Rock Loop Hike are located 4 minutes up the Hwy 357 from Crawfords Bridge.
The hike takes approximately 1.5 kms and is 1.3km in length and includes a total elevation gain of 144m. The trail features trail markers and kilometer markers as well. The trail climbs steeply to Gibraltar Rock where the lookoff offers a bird’s eye view of the river valley below. The trail then continues along the granite ridge for almost a kilometre where it crosses a babbling brook and arrives at Gibraltar Junction which is marked with signage. At the junction, follow the trail downward to where it rejoins the Musquodoboit Trailway.

Evening Paddle
in support of the Ecology Action Centre
Join Musquodoboit Valley Outfitters for a relaxed evening paddle on the Musquodoboit River through the breathtaking 350-million-year-old granite uplands and the Shubenacadie glacial spillway formed at the end of the last Ice Age.
Whether you're looking to log more movement minutes toward your fundraising goal or simply spend a beautiful summer evening immersed in nature, we'd love to have you join us.
🗺️ Route
Meet MVOutfitters team at Crawfords Bridge. Parking is available near the river under the overpass and along the roadside.
We'll launch at 6:00pm and paddle up river over flat water to the majestic granite uplands before returning to Crawfords Bridge. This round-trip paddle is approximately 6 kms.

🛶 Boats
This route is suitable for kayaks, canoes, and SUPs. You're welcome to bring your own boat or rent one from us. We're pleased to offer exclusive discounted rates for registered Hike-a-Thon participants in support of the Ecology Action Centre. Rentals include life jackets, paddles, and boater safety kits.
Single Kayak: $30 (regularly $45)
Canoe: $50 (regularly $65)
